The 1970s

Born To Fly

In the late 1960s, two men, Jim Hogue & Frank Storch, moved their RV manufacturing business to Bend, Oregon. The pair named their manufacturing business after Oregon’s state animal.

The 1980s

King Of The Road

Throughout the 80s, Beaver Coach grew and evolved its product line. At its peak, Beaver Coach employed more than 250 people.

In 1988 a state-of-the-art dealership was added to the Bend location and has remained there ever since.

The 1990s

The Gambler

The recession in the early 1990s forced Beaver Coach’s manufacturing plant to file for bankruptcy. In 1994 Safari Motorcoach swooped in and purchased the rights to the Beaver Coach brand.

Meanwhile, the dealership had already transferred ownership to Romania RV and then to Destinations RV.

2001

Rhinestone Cowboy(s)

The owners of Destinations RV dealership dissolved their company in 2001. However, the top six salesmen of Destinations RV weren’t ready to throw in the towel. These six not only took over the dealership but also expanded the business to sell other luxury RV brands.

2002

One More Last Chance

SMC (formerly Safari Motorcoach) built Beaver Coach RVs until the brand was purchased by Monaco in 2002. Monaco Coach continued building Beaver and Safari RVs for the next 5 years.

2009

Workin’ Man Blues

The market crash of ‘08 had a devastating impact on the RV industry and as a result, in 2009, Monaco filed for bankruptcy. Navistar purchased the rights to Monaco and Beaver Coach, but did not purchase Safari.

Alas, the last two Beaver Coach RVs (2010 Beaver Contessas) finished assembly in 2009 by Navistar. No other Beaver Coach RVs have been built since.

2011

Friends in Low Places

The end that came to manufacturing Beaver Coaches seemed to have a reciprocative effect on the dealership. In December 2011, it appeared as though it was time for the six salesmen to close their doors.

2012

Stand By Your Man

Ty Kelly, one of the original six salesmen, along with his wife, Jodie Kelly, and silent partner, refused to let down the handful of families dependent upon the dealership. Unyielding, he bought the dealership from the original six and on February 1st, 2012, Ty and the handful of families reopened the dealership as Beaver Coach Sales, LLC.

2016

Any Day Now

Navistar sells the Beaver Coach manufacturing rights to Fleetwood around 2013. Fleetwood chooses not to build Beaver Coaches. In 2016, Ty and Jodie purchased the rights from Fleetwood. Their hope is to one day begin manufacturing Beaver Coaches and restore them to their former glory.

Present Day

Forever and Ever, Amen

Today the Beaver Coach Sales dealership is a staple in the RVing community and the Pacific Northwest. With Ty still at the helm today, the dealership experiences exponential year-over-year growth and now operates a one-stop-shop RV business with more than 50 employees.

Our locally and family-owned, American RV dealership houses one of the largest indoor showrooms in Oregon and is comprised of sales, rentals, finance, parts, and service. The Sales department provides the highest quality RV brands including Entegra, Tiffin, Thor, Forest River, Newmar, and Vanleigh. The Rental department gives consumers the opportunity to experience the RV lifestyle prior to investment. The Finance department almost always secures a better deal on your RV than other banks. The Parts department stocks their shelves with a variety of affordable and high-end aftermarket products. The Service department consists of 14 bays and an incomparable workforce with over 400 man-years of combined RV building experience.

The same accommodating customer service provided by Beaver Coach Sales also applies to our employees — Ty and Jodie are committed to seeing their employees debt free, so their livelihood will never be a question again.
